New Resource Provider Integration Dashboard for Existing Resource Providers
PublishedIntegration News Type: New Integration Roadmap
Effective Date: May 19, 2025
Expiration Date: Not Specified
ACCESS introduces a new Resource Provider Integration Dashboard available from the ACCESS Resource Providers home page (https://access-ci.org/get-started/for-resource-providers/). The dashboard aims to lower the resource integration barrier by providing a more intuitive, flexible, and modular resource integration process. The new process guides resource provider leadership through the initial step of registering their organization and resource, and enrolling in an integration roadmap tailored to their resource type and integration goals. Once enrolled, they can select from a menu of roadmap-related integration badges, each representing functionality that will be useful to researcher, and that the resource provider provides through ACCESS. Resource provider leadership can enroll and un-enroll badges at any point in their resource lifecycle. The new process also details for resource provider implementing staff the tasks and related documentation needed to support badges selected by leadership. Once implementation tasks are marked as completed, badges can be submitted for verification, and then listed in user-facing resource discovery interfaces. Listed badges include a link for accessing badge related features. The Integration Dashboard is available in read-only mode to everyone in the ACCESS community so that potential resource providers can explore the integration process. For permissions to modify resource integration information, existing resource provider leadership should open an Internal ACCESS and Resource Provider Request (https://operations.access-ci.org/open-operations-request/) (ticket) that includes: a) which resource provider leadership need permissions to enroll/un-enroll resources in roadmaps and badges, b) which resource provider implementation staff need permission to mark tasks as completed and submit badges for verification, and c) for each leadership and staff person which resource group their permissions apply to. Resource groups are listed at https://allocations.access-ci.org/resources. For example: grant Jane Dough leadership access to Neocortex and Bridges2, John Doe should have implementor access to Bridges2. For a brief resource provider introduction to the new streamlined integration process view these slides (https://docs.google.com/presentation/d/1q1OyAmTxH4gGBYp7j6CssMBcMwGw7QaMA5MEjSROWrw/).

Transition to maintaining resource contacts in CiDeR
PublishedIntegration News Type: Changed Integration Roadmap Task
Effective Date: December 9, 2024
Expiration Date: December 31, 2024
ACCESS resource providers need to transition to maintaining their resource contacts in CiDeR. The contacts include the PI, co-PIs, integration coordinator, and other roles that ACCESS needs. These contacts should be reviewed at least every 6 months, and updated as staffing changes at RPs. Separately allocated resources have separate entries in CiDeR and have their own contacts, for example CPU, GPU, Large Memory, etc. CiDeR will be enhanced soon to make it easier for RPs to maintain contacts on multiple resources. These contacts were previously maintained in a Google spreadsheet, and were copied and entered by Operations into CiDeR to ease the transition.

ACCESS Globus Endpoints Move to Institutional Subscriptions
PublishedIntegration News Type: Software Release
Effective Date: September 14, 2023
Expiration Date: Not Specified
In 2022 when XSEDE began transitioning to ACCESS, most (but not all) of the institutions that hosted XSEDE and ACCESS resources had established Globus subscriptions, many with additional features beyond what XSEDE’s subscription provided. ACCESS CONECT maintained the XSEDE-wide Globus subscription for one more year, providing premium Globus features to all ACCESS-allocated resources and users. This ACCESS-wide subscription is now ending. Thanks to the strong support of ACCESS resource providers, premium Globus features including sharing (https://www.globus.org/data-sharing), browser uploads/downloads, and Globus platform features including data discovery (https://www.globus.org/platform/services/search) and automation (https://www.globus.org/platform/services/flows) will continue to be available without interruption or configuration changes on most ACCESS resources. ACCESS’s user documentation (https://access-ci.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/ACCESSdocumentation/pages/283772961/Using+Globus) includes guides for researchers using Globus with ACCESS resources. Several ACCESS resources offer features the ACCESS-wide subscription did not: high assurance collections (https://www.globus.org/protected-data) for protected data and premium storage connectors (https://www.globus.org/connectors) for non-POSIX storage systems. ACCESS Globus endpoints will be reassigned to RP institutional subscriptions with no changes to system behavior. The ACCESS Operations team is coordinating these changes with RP administrators to ensure there is no interruption of service. All ACCESS resources will continue to be able to use the Globus free file transfer service, thanks to the hundreds of subscribing academic and research organizations. If you are an ACCESS RP administrator and you haven’t been contacted by ACCESS Operations yet, feel free to open an integration and operations request at https://operations.access-ci.org/help.
